The One Room Challenge-Week 6-The Sunporch Reveal

It's D-O-N-E!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   Thanks again to Linda from Calling It Home for creating and letting us be a part of the One Room Challenge!   This is the room that has been the most challenging so far just because of the sheer amount of time and energy we had to put into it.  I'll tell you what, though.  It's come a loooong way baby.

Before

After

So a couple of snafus in the room.  I'm still waiting on the little ottoman I bought but I knew that wouldn't arrive in time.  I did end up getting the brackets in time, but they were in a different color.  I actually prefer the color to the rods.  I put them up anyhow and I kind of don't mind the two tone thing going on.  I may just leave it.  The curtains are another story but I'm too tired to get into it.  Needless to say they may be getting modified at a later time.  I'm so glad I switched fabrics though.  The original contender was a complete fail.  Also, not on my list are the hideous jalousie windows which will be going bye bye but financially it wasn't in the budget as of yet.  Soon though, very soon.  We're going to get custom french doors made to go out onto the porch.  That's a story for another time though.

Well, that's another room I can cross off my list.  Yes!!!!  Words can't even describe how much I love this room.  Coffee in here on the weekends is bliss.

Now for the deets:
-Coffee table and end tables from West Elm
-Curtain Fabric Thom Filicia Pennock Lizard ( I found it for a steal on ebay though)
-Pool blue pillows from Pottery Barn
-Pillows on the chairs in Schumacher Imperial Trellis on the face
-The faux fur rug is from Etsy seller Not Too Shaggy

Now I'm off to work.  I hope I'll be able to sneak away and start checking out everyone's rooms.  If not it will have to wait until tonight.  I'm so excited!!!  One Room Challenge Guest Participants.

  3. Tiffany. You and your room makeovers are amazing! See? I put the pressure on and you came through. :) The room itself is gorgeous but the design you brought into it is so pretty, light, infused with personality and interesting. Your bookcases are incredible, how one side turns and the other has that slender nook. So much character!

  24. I love it! The quality and details of old architecture are hard to beat. We live in an 1880s Colonial/Victorian mish-mash. :) It need work done on everything too.

I am doing a blog article on my favorite ORC rooms, and I really love this room and your house is really relevant for my readers. Could I use one of your photos? If you have a specific one that you prefer, I could use that. If not, I would love to choose one. I intend to publish the article tomorrow. (Thursday)

Thank you for considering my request.

  25. I'm still catching up on all the "challenge' rooms and just got to yours.... what a treat!! I love it. I did our Library, so to speak and I am in awe of your bookcases and ladder!! Old houses are the best. I feel your struggles tho. We restored an old home ( part 1896, part 1904 ... that gives you a clue right there doesn't it?? It was amazing one day and straight out of Money Pit movie the next!!) years ago. I still miss that home and all of its charm, quirks and drafty windows I the wintertime :) I am going to enjoy going back through your blog and seeing your home projects. Well done on your Sunporch/Library. I just want to sit in there and soak it all in.... and black and white checked floors?? I die!

  26. I've followed your other ORC rooms and always saw a sneak peak of those windows. I coveted them and now covet them even more (I'm sure I wouldn't covet all of the work you did to get them to where they are today). This room looks fantastic! Since I'm a book lover I really appreciate those book shelves. I'm kind of liking the two tone look with the brackets/rods (happy accident?) and I also like the curtains/ fabric. I just know that that couch is sink down in comfortable... sigh. Well done. It's beautiful.

  27. This is such an inspiration! We have a sunroom that is very similar. I wanted to add some curtain panels to the corners and now I know how great it will look! Would you be so kind as to tell me where the corner curtain rods are from?

    ReplyDelete

    1. They are from http://www.antiquedraperyrod.com/. I got them through Calico but it looks like you can get them direct. Probably cheaper too. I wish I had done that..sigh.

    2. Thank you, you are so sweet to respond! I wanted to insert some pics here of my sunroom, but couldn't figure out how. It is smaller than yours, but I want to put some stationary panels in the corner like you did. How wide are the curtains? Are there 2 separate curtains in each corner or one piece that wraps around? What are the specific rods that you used, please?

      Delete
    3. Also, what is the length of the corner rod on each side, please?

      Delete
    4. Sorry. I can't respond directly to you because your address comes up as no reply. The curtains are 1 and 1/2 width, and there is only one panel in each corner. The length of the rods are 2 ft each connected by an elbow. The company is ADP but I can't remember the exact hardware. The rods are antique brass but the brackets are antique gold I think. I liked the gold better than the brass, it's brighter and a prettier look overall. Email me if you have any more questions. Thanks!
