The New Little Peanut

I'm baaack...and I'm exhausted!  It's been tough getting used to having a baby again, but so worth it.  For anyone who had a difficult labor look away now or be warned that you're probably going to be a little envious.  As I suspected my due date came and still no baby.  So I went in for my induction and found out that I was already 5 cm dilated.  After an epidural (and no real discomfort) and a bit of pitocin I lounged and when the time came pushed for 1 minute.  Yes, I'm very lucky!  The little peanut is now 2 and a half weeks and so sweet.  I could kiss and smell her all day long.  In fact, I do.  I've missed the blog world, but it's been nice to take the time off.  Anyway, thought I'd share a few pics of the fam.

My girls together.  You forget how small babies are.  My four year old looks like a giant!

The last pic is just the sweetest.  Anyway, I'll be popping in and out with some home progress, but for now I just need to catch some Zzzz's.

My First Guest Post

Linda from My Crafty Home Life is participating in the Nester's October 31 days series.     She's doing 31 days of Nantucket style and asked me to come up with a Nantucket inspired nursery.  Easier said than done but if you want to see what I came up with go check it out.  Linda is a super creative and incredibly handy lady so make sure you check out the entire series.

On a separate note, still no baby.  Looks like I'll definitely be induced.  Thanks for all the well wishes.  I'll make sure to post some pictures in the near future:)

Baby Is Almost Here!

I'm a bit of a hoarder pack rat so I never threw out any of my boobear's things.  Needless to say I have more than enough clothes/toys/books for the new baby.  Not to say I won't buy new things but I don't have to if I don't want to.  We have a lot of very generous relatives that spoiled my girl rotten.  I think I have some clothes with the tags still on!  I finally went through everything a few weeks ago to organize for the new little one.

I've got 0-9 months in the armoire and then organized the rest of the clothes up to 3T under the bed.

I got the under bed storage boxes at Target.  Now everything is clean and labeled.  I still ended up with 3 huge garbage bags of clothes that I'm going to donate.  I wanted to keep it all, but I had to let go.  I just kept the cutest (and stain free) clothes.

So I'm feeling somewhat prepared.  I don't think you can be 100% prepared for anything, especially a new baby, but I'm comfortable with where I'm at.

The due date is this Friday.  I had gestational diabetes with both babies now and was induced with my first.  Nothing seems to be happening so I'm on the books for another induction this Friday.  I don't really mind and kind of like knowing when things are going down.  It must be the inner control freak in me.  Well my bag is packed so I'll be taking some time off from the house.  Wish me luck!

Continuing On In The Master Bath

Well the tile is FINALLY done.  We also got the faucets and sconces.  Woo-hoo!  My husband and I painted the room this past weekend.  A bit of touching up to do but it's really starting to come together.  Not too much is picture worthy yet though so I'll just give you a little taste of how it's shaping up.

The tub  isn't completely installed yet, but at least it's in the room instead of in the bedroom.  I think I had about 3 people reading my blog when I stenciled the tub (why do I always pick the hardest things to stencil?)  like a million years ago.  I'll recap that later.  My husband actually picked out the chandelier at an antique store.  It's high drama for sure, but I'm loving it.  We're going to have a mix of metals in the bathroom which I think will give it interest.

Still left to do:

-finish installing tub and shower fixtures
-install sconces
-paint mirrors ( I bought some hideously finished mirrors on the cheap that need a good paint job)
-sand and paint window trim
-window treatments (no clue what I'll do yet)
-glass shower doors (that's gonna hurt the wallet!)
-accessories

Not much right!;)

Art For Boobear's Room

I haven't made a whole lot of progress in Boobear's room.  We've got beds, blackout shades for the windows and a crib, but that's kind of where things have come to a halt.  I have big plans for the room though.  I'd like to do something like this for behind the twin beds.

Originally I wanted to do one of these,

but, those seemed either too difficult or too costly. That's a lot of fabric!

I plan on doing the faux canopy and pelmet boxes for the windows in this fabric.

Via carouseldesigns.com
Then my friend Melanie turned me on to marbled paper from Paper Mojo.  I found the perfect paper to go with my gray, lilac and yellow scheme.

The great part about it is that it's super inexpensive and fairly big at 24" X 36".  Of course, I'm getting it matted and framed to be 36" X 48" so it won't be as good of a deal, but this is going over the fireplace so it has to be a bit large.

Things still left to do:
-buy bedskirts for twin beds and crib
-make pelmet boxes
-make faux canopy
-add decorative detail to TJ Maxx lampshade I bought
-add fabric to nightstand doors
-clean and paint fireplace hearth

I'm sure there's something else I'm forgetting, but this is going to keep me plenty busy.  This and a newborn in 2.5 weeks....Yikes!

Boobear's Bathroom Reveal

We finally finished the first bathroom on the second floor which is my daughter's (and mine temporarily).  There still may be a wee bit of tweaking, but I'm calling it good for now.

Just ignore the cord on the floor...oops.

I bought this cabinet at a thrift store and painted it BM White and then lined it with shelf paper that I bought from chic shelf paper (chicshelfpaper.com).  I have to give a shout out to Maury from the blog Life on Mars for introducing me to that website.  They have the cutest shelf paper.

I got these signs from an etsy seller.  Leia from Baby's Own was able to color match them to the shower curtain!  They are so adorable and so reasonably priced.

And this is what the bathroom looked like before.

So, a vast improvement!

Now for the details....

-Wall color:  Sherwin Williams Tidewater
-Board and Batten color: BM White
-Vanity (it came with the marble countertop/backsplash and the sinks/faucets!): Amazon
-Vanity lights: Shades of Light (shadesoflight.com)
-Marble is Carrera
-Shower Curtain/rings: Target
-Towels: One Kings Lane
-Polka dot roller shade: Smith and Noble (smithandnoble.com)
-Medicine cabinets: Overstock Deal (overstockdeals.com)

We added the board and batten.  Actually, there is no board.  We just painted the bottom 2/3 of the wall white and added the battens.  I know, we're cheaters;)

I think I covered about everything?

I'd still like to lengthen the shower curtains and maybe add a cornice to the window...but then again I've got plenty of other rooms to finish so these are going on the back burner:/

How I'm Going To Blow Boobear's Mind-The Playroom In Progress

I talked about the playroom and my decor plans before.  It's not quite there yet, but I'm working on it.  I got the table and chairs and then my credit card begged me for a break so I had to comply.  The good news is that after almost a year of sitting in boxes, I've finally released the toys to their final resting place.

I tried to separate baby toys/books on the left and toddler toys/books on the right since I have a baby coming.  For now I'm using a rug we already had that I don't have any particular attachment to...i.e, the kids can tear it up as far as I'm concerned.  I'll get my navy rug later.

I'm on the fence whether I still want to do wallpaper on that back wall or not.  I love how the white walls let the toys provide all the color.  And there are still the cornices I want to do.  I'll still do those eventually.  I did manage to get a light.

Nothing crazy, but I like the simple style.  I may put a bit of ribbon around it, but that is really low on my priority list right now.

Now for the blowing my kid's mind part.  I haven't shown her the room yet.  Her birthday is this weekend and I'm planning on this being part of her birthday present.  I'm picturing steam coming out of her ears as she tries to process how much stuff she now has to play with.  I'm sure she's forgotten about most of it.  I've also set up a few newer presents in the room for her to open.

I'm super excited to show her the room.  I've heard of parents taking a grouping of toys and putting them aside and then swapping them out so that it always feels like the toys are new to the kids.  I think this is going to be like that on a much larger scale.  I'll let you know, but I have a feeling that we're going to be spending a lot of time in here!
